General Information Regarding the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA)


The following five areas address the purpose of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA):

  • Preserve and create jobs and promote economic recovery.
  • Assist those most impacted by the recession.
  • Provide investments to increase economic efficiency by spurring technological advances in science and health.
  • Invest in transportation, environmental protection, and other infrastructure that will provide long-term economic benefits.
  • Stabilize state and local government budgets, in order to minimize and avoid reductions in essential services and counter-productive state and local tax increases.

To be eligible for funding, federal agencies may ask you to ensure the following:

  • Project can be completed within 2 years
  • You can complete the required quarterly economic impact reports
